VFX
Mark Christiansen, and his course 'VFX For Motion Design' hosted by School of Motion gave me the fundamental skills to build my VFX career. Below is a short summary of the skills I learnt from that course. 1. Rotoscope - the act and art of using a digital pen to cut out a still or moving object from a background. Brute force, generally very 'labour' intensive. Years of playing PC Call of Duty made this one of my best skills! 2. Colour Matching - using a variety of image adjustment effects (ex: curves and levels) to alter the look of an image or footage to exactly how you would like it. 3. Keying - the act and art of using 'screened' footage (green or blue typically) and remove the foreground objects/people from the background screen. Done without the use of the manually intensive rotoscoping process. 4. Tracking - Techniques to track an obejct(s) inside of footage to have further post production effects applied to. For example, Fake user interfaces (FUI) can be integrated into tracked footage (think iron man's heads up display visuals). Techniques such as point tracking, 3d tracking, nodal pan tracking and graphical integration are displayed below. 5. 3D integration - My personal favourite!!! Using all of the above listed 4 skills mixed with Cinema 4D and multipass composting to add 3D elements "seamless" into 2D footage. The ultimate VFX package! Very tough and I am still in early stages proper shadow catching. Thank you Mark and the School of Motion!!! Another "leveling-up" course for anyone who is looking to add the above listed skills to your resume. Below is my tribute and thanks to the OG VFX Guru!
